Condolence & Memory Journal

This man was truly the best neighbor anyone could ask for. His selfless dedication to our small neighborhood will surely be missed for eternity. He would cook and deliver food plates to many of us. He let my family use his very expensive lawn mower for over 3 years till we were able to get our own. His Saturday night karaoke gigs were major. And the LSU football games in his LSU only log cabin were epic! He loved his grandchildren so much. One day many years ago, a plane flew overhead and he was in the field waving at it. He was yelling as he was looking up. He saw me and walked over to explain his actions to my curious looking face. He said,, that's my granddaughter coming back home from out of state to spend the summer with us. He was so excited, it made my heart smile. His grandson walked to my house with his fishing pole and hook in hand a couple days ago asking me to tie his hook. He did that back and forth most of the day. His grandfather obviously had been the one who tied his hook before. Yes, this man will be missed, but the memories he left us with, like his spirit, will live on in our little community and because of him we were the better for it without realizing till now.
