Tribute & Message From The Family

Marcia Aaltonen Coats, of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on September 14, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born on October 16, 1937, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Marcia worked on the base of White Sands Missile Range in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she met the love of her life George. She later worked as an instructor for ARC and TARC. Marcia was a former member of the Homemakers Club and volunteered for numerous events such as Special Olympics and Chefs Evening.

Her life was peaceful in all that she did. Whether she was reading a good book or planting flowers, she was always at ease. She loved to laugh and tease her loved ones and was always there to comfort her family. She loved her family fiercely and her husband even more. Just like her husband, her main passion was spoiling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marcia is survived by her daughter Mary Lou Coats; son and daughter-in-law Bryan Coats, Sr. and Jeannie; grandson Bryan Coats, Jr. and wife Jessica; granddaughter Taylor Irvine and husband Caleb; great-grandchildren Owen George Irvine and Lorelai "Lolo" Coats; brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Ruby Aaltonen; sister-in-law Theresa Coats; sister-in-law Elaine "Ling" Fayard and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years George G. Coats, Jr.; parents Ernest and Eileen Aaltonen; nephew Terry Aaltonen; brother-in-law Leonard "Sug" Coats; sister-in-law and brother-in-law June and Amos McIntyre and brother-in-law Jimmy Fayard.
