Donnie Sr. passed away peacefully in his home, entering eternal life, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born in Hammond, Louisiana and was the youngest of 14 children. Before residing in Independence, Louisiana with his wife and children, he served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany and Colorado. Followed by working at Chehardy's appliance services, and then opening his own business, Air- Flo Heating and Cooling, which is still in operation today by his sons, Frank and Joseph. He later retired working for the U.S. postal service. Outside of work, Donnie loved cars and trucks, restoring them with his sons, going to car shows, driving fast, and visiting loved ones. Donnie was recognized for the jokes he would make with everyone and was adored by mane for always being ready to help those in need.
He is survived by his faithful wife of 56 years, Grace Liotta Thomas O'Neill; children Franklin D. Thomas (Joyce), Cynthia A. Thomas, Donald C. O'Neill, Jr. (Gina), and Joseph M. O'Neill (Christie); brother, Thomas O'Neill (Joann); brother-in-law, Raymond (Jackie); sister-in-law, JoAnn (Frank); grandchildren, Christie McLaughlin, Theresa Patti, Frankie Friloux, Chloe, Mia, Brennon, and Haylie O'Neill; nine great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Inez Eady O'Neill; father-in-law, Joseph Liotta, mother-in-law, Theresa Maddie Liotta; and his siblings, Florine Baham, Lucius O'Neill, Owen O'Neill, Inez Randall, Geneva Bertus Jagneauk, Charles O'Neill, Harold O'Neill, Elise Bankston Pingno, Ann Latino, Peggy McLendon McMorris, Paul O'Neill, and Chris O'Neill.
Although we miss our beloved Donnie, we know that we will meet him again in eternal life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 620 3rd St., Independence, Louisiana 70443, on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, 8:30 am - 10:45 am. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, located at 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, LA 70401.
Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery, Independence, Louisiana.
