Betsy Middleton Rolling died on September 14, 2017, at the age of 91. She was born December 3, 1925 in Hammond, Louisiana, where she lived her entire life. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Jane Rolling and John Mark Rolling and his wife Peggy Campbell Rolling; three grandchildren: John Mark Rolling Jr. and his wife Rachael McLaughlin Rolling of Hammond, Conrad Charles Rolling II and his wife Deanna Gillen Rolling of New Orleans, and Caitlin Rolling Yelverton and her husband Blaine Thomas Yelverton, also of New Orleans; five great-grandchildren: Malyn Adele Rolling, Lily Grace Rolling, and Annalise Camille Rolling of Hammond and Everett Conrad Rolling and Camille Morgan Rolling of New Orleans; by her sister Mary Lou "Boo" Middleton-Newton and her husband Jack Newton of Los Angeles; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad Charles Rolling, by her parents John Morris Middleton and Gertrude Woodward Middleton, and by her sister Morris "Motsy" Harris. Betsy attended Hammond High School and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College (now University) with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in 1946.

She served as City of Hammond Secretary under Mayor James A. Stire in the 1950s. Later she was employed as a bookkeeper for several local businesses. After working for two CPA firms in Hammond, she opened her own tax-preparation business in the early 1970s and was qualified as an enrolled agent to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service.

Betsy was a lifelong reader from an early age. She was an avid traveler, visiting more than 37 countries on four continents. At home, she was a gracious hostess and loved to gather with friends and family. She was a long-time member of Hammond's Round Table Club and Book Club. She also served as a volunteer at North Oaks Medical Center and at the Habitat for Humanity Shop (now Fuller Shop).

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Harry McNeely & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard in Hammond on Monday, September 18, 2017. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with service at 12:00 noon. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond will follow.
