Joe Moschitta, Jr. 88 yrs. old of Hammond, Louisiana passed away on Thursday July 26,2018 at Landmark of Hammond. He was born on Aug. 9,1929 to Joe & Rose Cuilla Moschitta.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he saw action on the front line. After returning home from Korea he lived in New Orleans & worked as manager at McKensies Bakery on Gentilly Blvd., until 1968. He moved back to Hammond to join his brother, Benny, as owner of the Hammond French Market. After retiring in 1990, he continued to work there helping his nieces until 2016.

Joe enjoyed horse racing & was a great evaluator of the racing talent. He also loved hunting, football, baseball. & going to the casinos. He was a kind, loving & generous person that especially loved getting together with his family.

He is survived by his brother& sister-in-law Benny & Marie Moschitta, sisters Frances M. Siragusa & Rose Ann M. Haritos. Nieces & nephews, Rosemarie M. Graziano (Wayne), Paula M. Watkins (George), Gina S. Morantine ( Steve), Steven Mochetta (Theresa), Sal Siragusa Jr. ( Alice), Toni Renee Mochetta & Artie Haritos. Godchild Melanie G. Johnson. Numerous cousins, great & great-great nieces & nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joe & Rose Cuilla Moschitta, Sr., brother Anthony Mochetta, sister-in-law Barbara Mochetta, brothers -in-law Sal Siragusa, Sr. & Arthur Haritos.

We would like to thank the staff at Landmark of Hammond & Life Source Hospice for their help & care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 601 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond & Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
