Mark Craig Edwards Obituary

Mark Craig Edwards passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 68. He was born on Wednesday, September 2, 1953 in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Zilphia Raiford Edwards and the late Shelby Edwards. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Mark worked at Bayou Steel for 38 years, and also officiated football, baseball, softball, and basketball games for 42 years. He was a very active member of the Jaycees, as well as a past Chairman of the Strawberry Festival Board. He particularly enjoyed his time with the Tangipahoa Parish School System's Technology Department in recent years. Mark was an avid genealogist, and loved tracing the history of his family.

Mark is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Barrow Edwards; son, Craig Edwards; daughter, Dawn Banta, and her husband, Matthew; grandson, James Banta; sister, Noreen Edwards Metz, and her husband Mark, as well as their children and grandchildren; brother, Barry Edwards and his wife, Sherry, as well as their children and grandchild; niece, Amanda Edwards; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Shelby Edwards; mother, Zilphia Raiford Edwards; brother, Gary Edwards; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula , 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, April 23, 2022, beginning at 2:00 PM until the memorial service begins at 4:00 PM.
