Martin Alfred Goynes, 80 years old of Prairieville, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1937, in Independence, Louisiana to Martin and Estella Goynes. Martin served our country in the US Air Force for over 20 yrs when he retired. He enjoyed life and loved watching TV and working on all kinds of projects around the house. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Martin is survived by his loving wife, Katie Reid Goynes, his daughters, Sandra Williams and her husband Dwight, Brenda O'Ragan and her husband Bobby and Sandra Turner, his son, Nolan "David" Longmire, Jr. and his wife Linda, his grandchildren, Derrick Goynes and his wife Rena, Amber Goynes, Dwight Williams, Jr., John David Cessford, Michael Landry and his wife Kelly, Katie Saucier and Kenneth Landry and his wife Erica, his great grandchildren, Andrew, Alexis and Summer Goynes, Heavin Moore, Payton Mouton, Josh and Justin Longmire, Mason and Maddie Maron, Joseph and Austin Landry, his sisters, Margie Bankston and her husband Earl, Mary Furca and her husband Raymond and Betty Anthony, also step brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and close friends.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Estella Goynes, his daughters, Lorrie Goynes and Cheryl Hill, his sister, Dorothy Lee and his brothers, Wayne Anthony, Wiley Goynes and John Granger.

A Visitation for Martin will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Martin's Life will immediately follow visitation at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Natalbany Cemetery in Independence.
