Marvin Whittington, of Amite, Louisiana, passed away at The Lodge at Tangi Pines on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born on July 23, 1930, in Liberty, Mississippi, the son of the late Everett Whittington and Alma Turner Whittington. Marvin retired from the maintenance department of Southeastern Louisiana University after 28 years. He loved fishing, gardening and everything about being outdoors. Marvin worked with a multitude of tools throughout his life, but by far his favorite was always his chainsaw. He was often Santa Claus during Christmas and was dearly loved by so many family and friends.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Frances Leggett Whittington; son, Marvin Tracy Whittington (Rose); daughter, Betsy Penot (Arthur); grandchildren, Jeanne Penot, Michelle Penot, Cathi Keene, Matthew Draughn, Michelle Lusk (Jessie), Michael Roy (Whitney), Matt Roy, Chad Roy, Chase Roy, and Chris Roy; great grandchildren, Jessie Paul Lusk, Maysie Lusk, Christopher Keene, Tristan Draughn, Rowyn Roy, and Justin Ramos Penot; great great granddaughter, Kelslyn Gendusa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his brothers, S.J., Sam, Leonard, and Calvin Whittington; sisters, Sadie Wilkinson, Etta Rollinson, Mary Rollinson, Dorothy Nell, and Faye Dunaway; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Keene Whittington.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 8:00 pm.
