Matthew Maurice Bourgoyne Jr., 80 years old of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond with his family by his side. He was born on Monday, December 28, 1936, in Plaquemine, Louisiana to Matthew Sr. and Anona Neff Bourgoyne. He was a retired Meat Market Manager for A&P Grocery Stores and a local business owner of Lees Landing A-1 Salvage. Matthew enjoyed life and loved to Cook, camping, fishing, going to the casinos and was a very proud father and grandfather that loved his family very much.

Matthew is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary "Laverne" Bourgoyne, his son, Gary Bourgoyne and his wife Debbi, his daughters, Mary Bourgoyne, Sharon Bourgoyne Smith and Janice Bourgoyne, his grandchildren, James Kinchen, Lisa Lee, Penny Lapre, Chasity Murphree, Ashley McWillie, Melissa Lepine, Samuel Ford, Alan Smith and Robert Smith, his great grandchildren, Colby Kinchen, Hunter Musacchia, Nicholas Musacchia, Madison Guyllette, Andrew Musacchia, Matthew Kinchen and Anna Lepine, his brother, Fred Bourgoyne and sister, Carolyn Ard, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Sr. and Anona Neff Bourgoyne, his brothers Robert and Norris Bourgoyne and his sister Bertie Denham.

A Visitation for Matthew will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.
A Funeral Service Celebrating Matthew's Life will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hammond.

In Lieu of flowers the family wishes all memorial donations be made to the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation, 16013 Halbert Rd., Hammond, LA 70403 in Matthew's memory.
