Peter Tyrone Lamonte Obituary

Peter Tyrone Lamonte, a loving, generous, son and brother taken from us too soon on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. Peter was born July 12, 1966, in Hammond, IN and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He was a self – taught auto mechanic whose skills were respected and highly sought throughout the area. Forced to put down his tools due to back injuries, Peter was retired but still able to diagnose car trouble from just the description or sounds of the engine over the phone! He loved action movies, video games, The Stooges, fishing, family gatherings and cooking his signature dish – beef stroganoff. Pete was a happy and fun-loving person who loved a good joke. Peter is survived by his sisters: Dolores Whittemore (Tim); Anna Desselles; and Rachel Farris; a niece: Jessica Desselles and five nephews: Derek Desselles, Austin Farris, Hunter Farris, Joseph Oddo and Timothy Whittemore, Jr. and a host of other family and special friends. Peter was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Mary Meek Lamonte; and grandparents: Peter and Josephine Lamonte; John and Rachel Meek. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, LA 70401 on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11 am. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, 9 am – 11am. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Cemetery, Tickfaw, Louisiana.
