Raymond A. Roberts, Sr. age 86, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a native and resident of Holden, LA. Raymond owned a grocery store in Albany for many years. He was a charter member of Hillside Baptist Church. He was also a charter member of the board for the Albany Volunteer Fire Department and later for the Holden Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed family gatherings, working in his church and community, gardening, raising cattle, sitting on his porch, and hunting. He also loved horses and his favorite was Ole Smokey. He will be greatly missed.
Raymond is survived by two brothers: Lynwood Roberts, Sr. of Holden and Jerry Roberts of Baton Rouge, and one sister, Ouida Roberts Arnold Corbett, and his children: Foster and Cecelia Roberts, Glenda and Henry Crain, Raymond Roberts Jr. and Jessie, Jimmy Roberts and Cathy Buras, Lisa and Greg Sullivan; step daughters, Laura and Pat Augello, Karen and Garvin Wascom; stepson, Elliott "Ken" Wagner Jr. and Bobbie L. Oliphant; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster W. and Annie Courtney Roberts; sisters: Golda Watson, Isola Bobbitt, Patricia Watts, Maude Lee "Penny" Holloway, and Gunilda Roberts; first wife: Mary Lee Johnson Roberts, and second wife: Ouida Mae Toney Wagner Roberts, and granddaughters Johanna Roberts and Wendy Wascom Daniels.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Clarity Hospice and his nurse, Kim and aides, Robin and Ashley for their wonderful care of Mr. Raymond.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service 11:00 am. Brother Ed Jelks will officiate assisted by Bro. Sammy Smith.

Interment will follow in Courtney Cemetery.
