Rose Marie Drude Snellgrove, 88, of Ponchatoula, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 3rd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter M. Drude, Jr., and Katherine (Schmidt) Drude, her brother Henry Drude, sister Dr. Kathleen Ann Drude, and her beloved husband Benjamin Elford Snellgrove.

Rose's life was lived in loving service to others. She shared her love of learning and of art with children in kindergarten and the primary grades for 30 years in the Ponchatoula public schools and for another 8 years at Holy Ghost Catholic School in Hammond. She retired from teaching in 1998. She often taught several generations of the same family. Known for her love of children, Rose was passionate about all types of art, her garden, and spending time with her family. She was a member of several local art clubs and the Gardenettes Garden Club of Ponchatoula for many years, and of Creative Minds Writers of Ponchatoula after retirement.

She is survived by her two daughters, April Snellgrove (Tim Broussard) and Lisa (Snellgrove) Carter; her brother Peter M. Drude, III, her two sisters Shirley Ann (Drude) Mitcham and Carol (Drude) Lane; grandchildren Benjamin Willie (Veronica Palmer), Katie Calagna DePhillips (Marcus DePhillips), Kelly Calagna, Matthew Carter (Tiffany Pham), and Marianna Carter; and great grandchildren Laila, Colbie, Marcus Jr., Jacob, and Levi.
